VISION ASSOCIATES past goals have led to our new direction this year which emphasizes training. Last year the goal was: “bringing brain research and intervention together” which was achieved by being a member of a group of dedicated professionals, “Focus on Vision Impairment” (FOVI). The group is presently focusing on CVI. Once the needs are met FOVI will focus on the next area of vision impairment needing clarity of focus.
The following was achieved through FOVI:

Developed & presented the CVI Summit at Smith-Kettlewell Eye Research Institute in San Francisco with the financial & professional contributions from many wonderful, dedicated people.

Worked with the American Foundation f/t Blind to publish the proceedings from the CVI Summit as you will read about on page 7.

Worked with Divisions 7, 8 & 17 of the Association for Education & Rehab of Blind and the VI (AER) to bring Dr. Gordon Dutton to UT from Scotland to the AER International Conference for a CVI Pre-Conference Day presentation.

Presently working with Division 7 to develop a way to share Dr. Dutton’s CVI presentation with you all.
